Giving it a try now... getting more vertical real estate feels great, although I'm discovering just how horizontally hungry browser tabs are.

The other major drawback (on Mac OS X) is no more horizontal sub-pixel font aliasing.

Speaking of getting management insights from strange sources, I recently read this about the management style of Jack Bauers from the tv series "24":

http://www.jgc.org/blog/2007/02/jack-bauers-management-secrets-1-i-need.html

Jack creates a sense of urgency while at the same time binding his team together towards a common goal ... [he] doesn't say "I want this done" or "You must do this", he tells his team members (especially, Chloe) "I need it!". Why's that so important?

I will be going to Ireland next week and was hoping to contact the Hsorical Society at Creggs. Can you pass this on for me? Regards, Lynda Carney, Tuena

I think I am writing to Larry Kilcommins. Jim Carney from Newcastle in NSW gave me this address. My husband is descended from Hugh Carney, and he is mentioned in your LINKS 2006 book. We will be coming to Creggs this june. We will be hiring a car on 18th June in Dublin and heading for county Galway. 18th is a Sunday and I was wondering if you will be open. If not, would you be open on the Monday? It would be marvellous to learn a bit more about our forbears and have someone point us in the right direction. Also, is there any reasonably priced accommodation available in the town? Hoping to hear from you soon. We leave Australia on Mon 12th june, Hoping to meet you soon, Lynda and Michael Carney

Point 2 of your reasoning is false (IMO).

Usually unskilled people act imprudently. They are the kind of people that open strange documents coming from unknown people.
They often dowloads programs from sites saying "get the last song for your cellular phone".

They all use Internet Explorer and Outlook Express.

And finally, they are the ones that says "I don't need an antivirus: I don't fear loosing the data stored on my PC".

Such kind of people (including a lot of my friends) is the main source of virus attack I receive.

Hi
This ballard is about my ancestor Hugh. I am a decendant of Hugh and lived in the Trunkey area where he finally settled.

I have the Carney book somewhere but can't seem to put my hand on it.

Your steps sound good. But my only concern is that they are too idealistic. As you have rightly pointed out in the end, people who manage time effectively are not considered diligent. So instead of benefitting, they lose out....

A great article. I note with a sense of irony that you are citing Woolworths for doing something right. I remember you had other opinions about them when it came to on-line shopping.... ;-)
